The ski resort of Baqueira Beret is located in the Aran Valley, in the Catalan Pyrenees and belongs to the province of Lleida. Its name derives from the town of Baqueira and from the place called Plan de Beret or plain of Beret, a mountainous area of high altitudes and steep slopes that offers one of the most spectacular views of our Spanish geography.

The Baqueira Beret ski resort was opened on December 6, 1964 in the Aran Valley and since 2003 part of its tracks run through the neighbouring valley, the Valley of Aneu, across the 'Puerto de la Bonaigua'. It is the only resort in the Spanish state located on the northern slopes of the Pyrenees.
