The Best Viewpoints in Val D’Arán

Beret

Easily accessible, the Beret viewpoint is one of the most spectacular in Valle de Arán. From there, you can contemplate almost every corner of the mountain from an elevated point, with views of the Maladeta massif and the Aigüestortes National Park.

Betlan

Between Es Bordes and Vielha, this small viewpoint offers a unique view over Val d’Aran, surrounded by pines and fir trees.

The original name in Aranese, “Guardader de Betlan,” reflects its traditional character. It is located on grassy slopes that descend to the Garona River. It opens only to the northeast, offering frontal views of the valley and vegetation from the Baricauba forest. It can be accessed on foot, with snowshoes, or skis.

Roca de Serra

Located on the road between Las Bordas and Gausac, Roca de Serra is a spectacular natural viewpoint with access by car from Gausac, Las Bordas, or Aubert. From here, you’ll see the Artiga de Lin, Huelhs Deth Jueu, and Aneto-Maladeta.

Located after a 90° left curve in a northern clearing, it is perfect for capturing the contrast between forest and glacial cirque.

Arres

This viewpoint is on the forest track between Arres de Sus and Bossost, 7.5 km from Bossost, at its highest point.

It offers expansive views towards Entecada, Portillón, Pilaner, Pica dera Gossetera, Era Trona, and in the distance, the imposing Aneto. It can be reached by car or bike.

Guardader de Vilamòs

Very close to Vilamòs (Lleida), this viewpoint allows you to contemplate the Baricauba forest slope, the Artiga de Lin valley with the Joèu river, and the majestic view of the Maladeta massif with the Aneto peak (3,404 m).

Pla de Beret to Montgarri

This plain, located 1,860 m above sea level, is ideal for hiking, the birthplace of the Noguera Pallaresa and Garona rivers, and offers an impressive view of the Aigüestortes National Park and Maladeta, with the Baqueira Beret ski resort in the surroundings.

Additionally, the route to Montgarri allows you to discover a nearly abandoned village (at 1,645 m), its sanctuary, and mountain refuge with a restaurant and shop.

Sierra de Molhedor

Montcorbison, Tuc des Letassi, and Montpius make up this chain to the west of Vielha. Strategically located above 2,500 m, it is an exceptional viewpoint.

The ravines of Montpius, Gèles, and Casau drain into the Joèu and Garona rivers. From one of these peaks, you can clearly see Aneto and Maladeta.

Carretera a Portilhon

5 km from Bossost, this point offers a cycling monument to the Tour de France, along with a panoramic view of the valley and the village, perfect for historical photos.

Canejan

From this natural balcony, you can observe the entire Valle de Arán and the town of Les. You can also appreciate ancient mining laundries that add historical charm to the place.

Banhs de Tredos to Circ de Colomers

This glacial headwaters hosts more than 50 lakes and peaks over 2,400 m. Ideal for those looking for high mountain photography.

Bassa d’Oles to Moncorbison

From here, you can hike up to Tuc de Letassi or Montcorbison and enjoy 360° panoramic views of the Pyrenees. Well-marked trails lead you to almost deserted viewpoints.
