Where is Tredós and how do I get there?

Tredós is a small and picturesque village located in Valle de Arán, in the province of Lleida, Catalonia, at the heart of the Pyrenees. At an altitude of approximately 1,348 meters above sea level, Tredós is the closest village to the Baqueira-Beret ski resort, giving it a privileged location for both winter sports enthusiasts and those looking to enjoy nature at any time of the year.

To reach Tredós, the most common access is by car. From Lleida, take the N-230 road towards Vielha. Once in Vielha, continue on the C-28 road towards Baqueira. Tredós is located about 9 kilometers from Vielha and just 2 kilometers from the base of Baqueira, making the trip quick and direct.

Tredós is known for its traditional Aranese architecture, with stone buildings and slate roofs that preserve the typical style of the region. Despite its small size, the village has a parish church, the Church of Santa María, a building that reflects the religious and cultural heritage of the area.

Tredós is also an excellent starting point for outdoor activities. In winter, its proximity to Baqueira-Beret makes it an ideal spot for skiers. In summer, the village is the starting point for several hiking trails that take visitors through mountainous landscapes, alpine meadows, and glacial valleys, allowing them to enjoy the local flora and fauna.

Tredós is a destination that combines the tranquility and charm of a small Pyrenean village with its proximity to the main natural and tourist attractions of Valle de Arán, offering an authentic and enriching experience amidst an incomparable natural setting.

Attractions in Tredós

It has three Romanesque churches, and among them, we highlight the Santa Maria de Cap d’Aran, which was built in the 11th century. It is a large Romanesque temple that you can visit throughout the year as it is part of the Romanesque Route of the Val d’Aran. Notably, it is the only temple in the entire valley where we find a small crypt beneath the presbytery, and its Romanesque murals were removed in 1951 and distributed among several museums and private collections.

WINTER

In winter, the great advantage of this magnificent village is that you can forget about traffic jams on the road because it is only 3 km from Baqueira. If one day you don’t feel like skiing, you can do other activities, such as a snowshoe excursion from the village to the Tredós hot springs or to Baqueira via the old royal path.

SUMMER

For the rest of the year, in addition to enjoying the fresh air and nature, you can go on many excursions from Tredós, as it is one of the entrances to the Aigüestortes National Park. You can also hike to the Tredós hot springs and take an excursion to the Colomers lakes or go on mountain biking trips.
